Itโs the tour dreams are made of. Chris Daughtryโs dreams, at least.
In a February 4 interview with national rock radio show Loudwire Nights, Daughtry โ who first rose to fame as a contestant on Season 5 of โAmerican Idolโ in 2006 โ discussed the excitement of his band opening forย Disturbedย later this year in a tour to celebrate theย 25th anniversary ofย โThe Sickness.โ According to Daughtry, he had long ago dreamt that this opportunity was going to happen.
Literally.
โI manifested this over a year ago,โ Daughtry said.
And to say that Daughtry was excited when informed that the dream had become a reality is a mild understatement.
โI lost my (expletive) on the tour bus,โ Daughtry said with a laugh.
Chris Daughtry Shares Dream That Led to Touring With Disturbed
Itโs pretty amazing how it all worked out. Describing his dream for program host Chuck Armstrong, Daughtry said he saw himself on stage with Disturbed lead vocalist David Draiman.
โIt was obvious in the dream that we were on tour together, and that this was a nightly thing,โ Daughtry recalled.
The two were singing a ballad, although Daughtry said it didnโt seem to be any song that he recognized.
โIt was the greatest song that no one has ever heard,โ Daughtry said to Armstrong.
The next day, Daughtry said he texted Draiman.
โI said, โDude, I had this dream, we were all on tour, and we were singing this ballad together,โโ Daughtry said. โAnd you know how David speaks. I read his text in David Draimanโs voice, and his reply was, โWell, both of those things are possibilities.โโ
Chris Daughtry’s Band Will Also Open for Creed Later This Year
GettyAs reported by Billboard, Disturbedโs 34-date North Americanย tourย celebrating the 25th anniversary of its 2000 debut album begins February 25 at the Ford Idaho Center Arena in Nampa, Idaho. Three Days Grace and Sevendust will be the opening bands for the first half of the tour, through March 21; Daughtry and Nothing More will open in the second half, from March 29 until May 17 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Daughtry said he is extremely honored to tour with Disturbed, and โlow-key terrifiedโ to be playing after Nothing More, who he said is, โone of my favorite bands.โ In particular, Daughtry said itโs a bit intimidating to be sandwiched by vocalists Draiman and Nothing Moreโs Jonny Hawkins, who he called โa beast of a frontman.โ
โI am jealous to hear what theyโre able to do with their voice,โ he said.
Later in the summer, Daughtry will also be joining Creed for a handful of dates during the โSummer of โ99โ tour, according to Blabbermouth.
โItโs surreal, man. Itโs absolutely surreal, both tours, and you know, I feel very fortunate that I get to call these guys friends of mine, but Iโm still a huge fan,โ Daughtry said. โIโm still a fan that feels completely lucky that I not only get to see them play every night, but I get to be a part of it. I get to share the stage with them and share this massive audience.โ
