Jelly Roll recently underwent a major transformation, losing 200 pounds.
And he opened up about it during an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience on Dec. 10, specifically going into detail about some health challenges that led to the change. Jelly Roll admitted that he had โmultiple heart issues,โ even going as far as to say he “could feel myself dying.”
โI started really considering taking the step to try to make a major change in myย life,โ he said on the podcast. “I thought about it around my birthday โcause I knew my next one was 40. You know what, I donโt think Iโve ever met a 500-pound 40-year-old.โ
โIt felt like Iโd already cheated the game. Iโd had multiple heart issues,โ Jelly Roll continued. โI was like, man, I should really start trying to figure this out. I could feel myself dying.โ
Jelly Roll Breaks Down After Receiving Incredible Honor
During his time on The Joe Rogan Experience, Jelly Roll also received an incredible honor.
Host Joe Rogan surprised the musician with a message from Craig Morgan, inviting him to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Jelly Roll shared a clip of this moment on his Instagram with a heartfelt message.
“I donโt even know what to say right now yโall,” he wrote. “They invited me to be a member of the Opry. CRAIG MORGAN INVITED ME TO BE A MEMBER OF THE OPRY!!!! Iโm honored beyond words and I canโt stop pinching myself. To everyone at the Opry, yโall are like family to me. To Craig Morgan, no matter how many times I say it iโll never be able to tell you enough how much this has all meant to me. I love you Joe Rogan.”
Craig Morgan left a sweet comment on the post.
“Couldnโt think of anyone more deserving. Welcome home, @jellyroll615,” he said.
As did the Opry.
“We love ya, Jelly! Welcome to the family โฅ๏ธ,” they commented.
Jelly Roll Details How His Life Has Changed Following Weight Loss
Jelly Roll has been very open about his weight loss, opening up about how his life has changed during a November 2025 appearance on โThe Hot Hits With Nic & Loren.โ
โI sleep better, I walk better, I talk better โฆ I have more energy,โ he detailed, adding that “I’m nicer. โI was a mean, fat person. I was a cocky, arrogant, fat [expletive].”
It was a change he was very happy to make.
โLike what? Itโs crazy. Somebody was like, โYouโre going to get a six-pack and turn into a monster,โ Jelly Roll detailed. “I was like, โIโm actually becoming a way better human.โ I donโt hate my life as much. You know what I mean?”
