Captain Jason Clears the Air After RHOSLC Star Heather Gay’s Spicy Confession

“Below Deck Down Under” fan favorite Captain Jason Chambers is clearing up rumors about his alleged romantic past with “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Heather Gay. The Australian captain addressed the claim during his appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” after Gay said on RHOSLC that she and Chambers had previously “(expletive) around.”

While Chambers initially joked about their time together, he ultimately denied Gay’s story — though he made it clear the two are good friends.

Captain Jason Chambers Denies Hooking Up With Heather Gay

During the November 11 episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” Cohen wasted no time asking Chambers about Gay’s headline-making comment. “We hung out in Sydney, as you know, down there for Bravo,” Chambers said. “You’ve been to Sydney before for the Mardi Gras. What happens in Sydney stays in Sydney, you know?”

His fellow guest, “Below Deck” star Daisy Kelliher, took that as a confirmation of the hookup — but Chambers quickly clarified. “No, it’s not true. It’s not true,” he said firmly, before adding, “But what a friendship. Beautiful people.”

The captain went on to describe Gay and her co-star Whitney Rose as “so, so funny” and said he was glad their friendship led to a crossover with “Below Deck Down Under.” “I’m glad that the friendship built so that they wanted to come on the boat for a charter,” Chambers added.

Gay, 51, originally made the claim on “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,” during a cast trip to the Caribbean. When co-star Britani Bateman accused her of “canoodling” with Chambers, Gay admitted, “Jason and I are friends. We have a history. We’ve (expletive) around before.”

When Bateman pressed for details, Gay backtracked, saying, “We’re friends. I’m saying we’re friends, so there’s latitude.”

She later told producers she regretted the confession entirely. “I said that? Serious face? You can’t use that,” she pleaded. “Delete. Delete.”

The BDDU Captain Opens Up About Friendship and Wedding Drama

Captain Jason previously spoke about his experience filming with the RHOSLC women during an interview with Page Six in February. “I had to spend four days with them,” he said of Gay and Rose. “Those two together … it’s like a comedy show. I could not stop laughing. We had a lot of fun.”

He also praised Gay personally, saying, “She’s a crackup. She’s funny.”

During the same episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” Chambers addressed another Bravo-related topic — his absence from “Below Deck Mediterranean” star Aesha Scott’s wedding guest list. When asked about not receiving an invite (while Captain Sandy Yawn did), he handled it with class.

“We work with a lot of people — I’ve been doing it for three decades,” he explained. “We had what, two seasons together? And they were great seasons. But that doesn’t mean we’re wedding-invite level. We don’t hang out after the show, but we actually respect each other.”

Scott later confirmed the decision on WWHL, explaining that she and her fiancé, Scott Dobson, had to limit their guest list. “We can only bring 130 people,” she said. “And Sandy’s been in my life for a lot longer. So Sandy trumped.”

Chambers took the situation in stride, joking that as someone who’s been married before, he understands the struggle: “I couldn’t fit people on.”
