Former Hallmark star Candace Cameron Bure recently opened up about the hardships she’s faced in her marriage to Valeri Bure.
“Val and I next year will be 30 years married, and it’s definitely been a roller-coaster,” Cameron Bure told co-host Madi Prewett during the Tuesday, January 13, episode of “The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast” when asked if she’s ever felt “stuck.”
Cameron Bure Describes the ‘Highs’ & ‘Lows’ of Her Marriage
The “Christmas Under Wraps” actress revealed there have been “lots of highs and there’s been some really low lows” throughout her relationship with her husband. “And I know that during some of those low times, I wouldn’t even say it’s low,” she said. “You’re just kind of, like, sitting in the shallow of the valley. Where you’re like, ‘This isn’t the best, but that’s just life.’ We’ll just kind of go through it.”
“You just feel stuck, and yet, for us, we didn’t have either the confidence or just the straight-up courage to be honest enough with each other to say the really hard things because I know they’re gonna hurt your feelings and I know you’re gonna hurt my feelings by hearing it, by saying it. Those have been stuck moments in my life, and then sometimes you got to reach the pit to get pulled out of it and kind of hit the bottom of that. I know that we can feel stuck. We want to get unstuck,” she continued.
Cameron Bure said she has felt “that nagging feeling, and you just know that something’s just not right, but you can’t quite put your finger on it.”
“You know that you want your life to change, but you don’t know where to start,” Cameron Bure explained. “You don’t even know what to look for and what move to start making, and then when you do have a family, you have a husband, have kids, it’s like, again, I just know that something isn’t right in my life, and I want to move it over on a different track, but how do I start, and how do I get my family on that track?”
How Cameron Bure’s Son Helped Them Overcome Marital Hardships
In the past, Cameron Bure has explained how her son Lev helped her and her husband overcome some of the challenges in their marriage.
“Val and I went through a really, really rough season in our marriage,” Cameron Bure admitted during a July 2025 episode of her podcast. “And we were like, ‘I don’t know, don’t think … we’re gonna make it through.’ But at one point, Lev preached, like, a 45-minute sermon on marriage to us. Just had his Bible open on the couch and just talked about it.”
“And I’ll never forget, ’cause he said, ‘You know, I know I haven’t been married. I’m just a young kid,'” Cameron Bure said. “‘And so it’s probably hard to take marriage advice from someone this young [who] never experienced it before. But I don’t need to be married to know what the word of God says.'”
Cameron Bure said Lev “was such a calm voice that had so much wisdom behind it,” reiterating to her and Bure that they “raised some pretty good kids.”
How Cameron Bure’s Relationship Began Thanks to a ‘Full House’ Co-Star
According to Us Weekly, Cameron Bure and the Winter Olympics medalist were originally set up by her “Full House” co-star Dave Coulier. “[Lori Loughlin and I] were looking at these two cute men on the ice, and I was like, ‘I wanna meet that one, the blonde one,’ which was Val,” Cameron Bure recalled during a 2014 interview. “We went on a date the very next day, and in less than a year we were engaged.”
The pair tied the knot on June 22, 1996, and they expanded their family with kids Natasha, Lev, and Maksim.
