Lacey Chabert is already the queen of Hallmark Channel, with 45 movies under her belt and her new series, “Paris is Always a Good Idea.” But on August 24, 2026, the beloved actress revealed she’s been wanting to try something totally different: hosting her own cooking show.
In honor of her new Paris-based series, Chabert took a big step toward that dream by filming herself at home making her “favorite French dessert,” Crème Brûlée, to post on social media. But it didn’t take long for the “Party of Five” alum to realize hosting a cooking show is a bit more complicated than it seems.

Captioning her video by writing, “Crème Brûlée is also always a good idea,” Chabert said she was following Martha Stewart’s recipe for the delectable dessert, starting with “two cups of heavy cream.” Chabert filmed herself pouring the cream into a silver pot on the stove, noting, “I guess we should turn this on low,” and later saying it was supposed to “simmer not boil.”
“I always said I wanted a cooking show,” Chabert sighed as she scanned the other ingredients, “but I don’t know, I think it’s harder than I thought.” She then filled up her cute, white kettle with water, placing it on another burner to boil. Next, she went to grab the sugar, only to realize she’d forgotten it.
Once she had that ingredient, Chabert said, “I’m actually halving the recipe because I don’t think I need eight Crème Brûlées, so we are starting with three tablespoons of sugar.” She then pointed out the “cute” finger bowl she was holding and her foliage-covered apron, which she coyly revealed is from the Lacey Chabert Collection at Hallmark.com.
Adding “one vanilla bean” to the mixture, Chabert whisked “it all together” while hoping she’d chosen the right heat level. Next up, it was time to crack four eggs, which also proved to be harder than Chabert expected. The “Making a List” star adorably sighed, “Oh gosh, that was not impressive. Ohhhh-kay, close enough. My mom’s gonna be so disappointed when she see’s this!”
Chabert thought she’d somewhat succeeded at separating the egg yolk until noticing pieces of shell had fallen into her concoction, hilariously deadpanning, “Oh, shell also. That’s unwelcome. Whoops-a-daisy, nothing to see here.”
As things got even messier while she fished for eggshells, Chabert laughed along with someone in the background, telling viewers, “Okay, we’re gonna do this part off camera, and then we’re gonna get back to it!”

Returning with a clear mixing bowl that magically contained four egg yolks and three tablespoons of sugar, Chabert added “a pinch of salt” and whisked it together. Next, she said it was time to “temper the egg yolk by slowly adding in the simmered milk,” expressing relief that the result didn’t look like “scrambled eggs.”
She poured the mixture into small ramekins, placing them inside a casserole dish and adding boiling water from the teapot to give them a water bath in the oven, baked at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Chabert smiled, “I already have some in the fridge because this is a professional cooking show!”
While the treats were in the oven, she shared a favorite story from filming her new series — one that she also shared with EntertainmentNow before the July premiere. Recalling how she and co-star Scott Michael Foster got to film on the observation deck of the Eiffel Tower overnight, she told her social media followers about the “massive rain storm, thunderstorm” that sent the whole crew running for cover. They grabbed umbrellas for the scene, but then when they went to film their dialogue, she said, it started snowing.
Chabert quipped, “I couldn’t believe we weren’t filming a Christmas movie!”
Finishing up her cooking demonstration with final instructions, she pulled out a cooking torch to brown the sugar on top — a trick she’d never done before. Chabert was delighted when it actually worked, gasping, “Oh look at that! Just like I see on TV!” She even gave her finished product a taste test, declaring it to be “tres magnifique!”
Fans and friends got a kick out of watching Chabert’s rocky first cooking show, including her “Haul Out the Holly” co-star Eliza Hayes Mayer, who quipped, “‘I don’t think I need 8 crème brûlées’ was your only error here. (More content like this plz 🫶🏼)”
“Paris Is Always a Good Idea” will drop its finale episode on August 27 via Hallmark+. The full six-episode series is available to watch via the streamer.
