Arizona news anchor Mary Coleman revealed new information about a possible Nancy Guthrie ransom note sent to her station.
Coleman, who is an anchor at KOLD 13 News, told CNN on Wednesday that the ransom note came via email, and that it “might not be a hoax.”
“A lot of it is information that only someone who was holding her for ransom would know,” Coleman told CNN’s Erin Burnett. “Some very sensitive information and things that people who weren’t there when she was taken captive wouldn’t know.”

Coleman describes the contents of Nancy’s alleged ransom note, noting that authorities are looking into its legitimacy.
“It also included a dollar amount, a deadline, and, again, other specifics that only Guthrie’s abductor might know, so that definitely raised some red flags,” Coleman continued.
Coleman added that the information has been sent to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, which requested additional details.
“One of the detectives did get back to us and asked us for some more information so that they can start searching for an IP address and things of that nature to try and figure out who or what people are responsible here,” Coleman said, confirming that the note came via email.
On Tuesday, TMZ reported receiving a ransom note demanding millions of dollars in Bitcoin in exchange for Nancy’s safe return. It’s unclear whether the note sent to KOLD 13 News is the same.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in a statement that they are aware of reports circulating about possible ransom note(s) and that they are “taking all tips and leads very seriously.”
Still No Suspect
In a statement shared on their Instagram account on February 4, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that “no suspect or person of interest has been identified at this time.”
“At this point, investigators have not identified a suspect or person of interest in this case,” the statement read. “Detectives continue to speak with anyone who may have had contact with Mrs. Guthrie. Detectives are working closely with the Guthrie family. While we appreciate the public’s concern, the sharing of unverified accusations or false information is irresponsible and does not assist the investigation.”
Nancy was last seen at her home on the night of Saturday, January 31, and was reported missing by her family on February 1.
