For many, he was the face of strength and resilience on screen. But in the months leading up to his death, Norris had been quietly navigating a deeply personal chapter marked by loss.

Last December, Norris shared an emotional message following the death of his first wife, Dianne Holechek, who died at 84.

โ€œI am deeply saddened to share that my ex-wife, Dianne, has passed away. After being married for 30 years, we were able to find a way to remain close friends, and those years of friendship meant the world to me,โ€ Norris wrote on Facebook.

He continued, โ€œDianne was an incredible person. She was kind, intelligent, and lived life to the fullest. Her presence in my life will never be forgotten. She was also a loving and devoted mother to our sons, Mike and Eric, who were always her greatest pride.โ€

Reflecting on their lasting connection, he added, โ€œEven as our lives took different directions, we continued to care deeply for one another, and I will forever cherish the memories we built together.โ€

Norris and Holechek first met as teenagers at North High School in Torrance, California, and married in 1958, at just 17 and 18, respectively.

As per People, they spent nearly 30 years together before separating in 1988 and finalizing their divorce a year later. Despite the end of their marriage, they remained close, maintaining their bond as they raised their two sons, Mike and Eric.

Norris later married model Gena Oโ€™Kelley in 1998. Together, they welcomed twins, Dakota and Danilee, and built a life rooted in family.

Death of His Mother Marked Another Deep Loss

Months before the loss of his first wife, Norris had already faced another deeply personal goodbye. His mother, Wilma Norris Knight, died at the age of 103, leaving behind a presence that had shaped much of his life.

Sharing the news on Instagram, he reflected on her lasting influence with a message filled with gratitude and faith. โ€œWednesday morning, my brother Aaron and Iโ€™s wonderful mother went home to be with Jesus,โ€ Norris wrote.

He described her as โ€œa woman of unwavering faith and a beacon of light in our lives,โ€ adding that โ€œher love reflected Godโ€™s grace.โ€

Looking back on his childhood, Norris spoke about the warmth she brought into their home. โ€œGrowing up, her laughter filled our home with joy, and her hugs provided a sense of safety that we will forever cherish.โ€

He also credited her with shaping the values that guided him throughout his life.

โ€œFrom my earliest memories, she taught me the importance of kindness and compassion. I am so thankful for the countless lessons she shared, the prayers she lifted for us, and the way she embodied the love of Christ every day.โ€

He ended the tribute with a simple and heartfelt farewell.

โ€œWe love you, Mom. Until we meet again.โ€

As Norris faced these losses, he remained grounded in family and faith, values that had guided him throughout his life.
