Ray J Diagnosed With Non-COVID Pneumonia In 2021
GettyRay J was hospitalized with a very serious case of pneumonia during the pandemic in 2021, but it had nothing to do with COVID-19. He went on to explain that he was given โfive COVID tests, all of which came back negative,โย which led to him being moved from the COVID wing of the hospital and into another area.
“He’s in the hospital for pneumonia, but it’s not the contagious kind,” his longtime manager David Weintraub told PEOPLE. “[The doctors] wanted to keep him there a couple extra days to watch him.”
A week after the report that he was hospitalized, he was released, having been “cleared by doctors to go home,” as well as being “no longer hooked up to oxygen or relying on an inhaler,” TMZ reported.
He revealed at the time that he “thought he could die” because he was having difficulty breathing and talking. That led to him having to use an inhaler as well as being on oxygen.
โI thought it was over,โย he told TMZย at the time, adding that he โstarted praying and knew God is good so I just kept praying.โ
Sources told the outlet that this health scare was brought on by his โbusy scheduleโ and โconstant travel,โ adding that he โrealized he needs to take care of his health.
