Kyle Richards opened up about one of the most heartbreaking moments she has faced on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
During a Jan. 29 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” the Bravo TV veteran admitted she “was not expecting” to get emotional when she returned to the Bel-Air, CA, home she once shared with her ex, Mauricio Umansky, after current owner Amanda Frances invited her to tour it.
“I was not expecting that,” Richards told host Andy Cohen of her emotional reaction to her former home. “I genuinely, I thought I just want to see what she’s done with the house. I was just shocked at my reaction.”
Richards added that she was so embarrassed by how emotional she got that she “barely said goodbye” to Frances on her way out.
Kyle Richards Said Her Life Changed When She Moved Out of the House
On the Season 15 RHOBH episode “Headlines and Heartbreak,” Richards returned to Bel-Air to see the renovations that Frances had done to the home she purchased from her in 2021.
During the house tour, with her estranged husband by her side, Richards broke down in tears as she recalled all of the happy memories her young family had when they lived there.
In a confessional, Richards admitted the emotions hit her “like a truck.” She also wondered if her marriage would have survived had her family stayed in the smaller home.
“When we first bought that house was when Mau really started to make a lot more money,” she explained in the confessional. “We were looking for a bigger, better home. Bigger’s not always better.”
The mom of four reflected on how “extremely different” her life is now compared to how things used to be in her happy marriage, “Why would anyone let that slip away? How could anyone let that slip away?” she said through tears.
On WWHL, Richards further explained her emotional reaction. “There was a lot of things, by the way,” she told Cohen. “It was obviously, my life had changed so much. I was alsom I moved out of there and was burglarized right after that. Everything was taken from me. It’s like my whole life just changed.”

Richards and Umansky have been separated since July 2023, but have yet to file for divorce. The exes have lived apart for more than two years and have both dated other people. Jan. 20 marked their 30th wedding anniversary.
In early 2026, there was a report that Richards and Umansky were seen canoodling while at a New Year’s Eve party in Aspen, Colorado, and rumors that they were back together began to surface.
“It honestly was just someone made that story up,” Richards told Cohen on WWHL. “We went to, actually Goldie Hawn’s house, I don’t even really want to say it, but her and Kurt Russell’s house, and we’re friends with Kate [Hudson]. And I don’t know where that story came from.”
“We went with the whole family,” the RHOBH OG continued. “[Mau] was kind of doing his thing.”
Richards added that she and Umansky have since “had conversations” about divorce but still have not filed. “But we’ve had conversations about what this is going to look like and all of that,” she confirmed.
