VIDEO: Elton John Cleans Out His Oven After Kitchen Backlash & Addresses Criticism Head-On

A week-and-a-half ago, British music legend Sir Elton John, 78, posted a video on his Instagram account jokingly expressing his irritation at hearing “Step into Christmas” so much at this time of year.

Sir Elton’s 16-second upload saw him in his kitchen, opening various doors on his cupboards and appliances, only to hear his classic 1973 festive ditty blaring out of them all.

The global icon captioned the video, “If you canโ€™t escape it, you might as well Step Into Christmas! Whoโ€™s ready?” The video ended with an on-screen caption saying, “It must be that time of year againโ€ฆ”

Well, Sir Elton’s 5.7 million followers commented on the video in their droves โ€” and most of them were positive comments, laughing along with the star. However, as is sadly typical of social media these days, there was also some criticism regarding the cleanliness (or supposed lack thereof) of his oven.

One such comment read, “Nice to see even Elton’s oven needs cleaning before Christmas, my oven glass needs an oven doctor too ๐Ÿ˜‚.”

It’s prompted him to upload two further videos addressing the criticism.

Sir Elton John Posted a ‘PSA’ Regarding His Oven Hygiene

In the first video, which is 31 seconds long and captioned “Step Into Christmas PSA ๐ŸŽ„,” Sir Elton talks about his previous video and references the criticism of his oven’s cleanliness.

He then assures his followers that his oven isn’t dirty, nothing in his house is dirty, and that he isn’t a dirty person โ€” and to prove it, he’s going to do something to show everyone (the next video).

The singer and songwriter then reveals a pair of pink rubber gloves adorned with festive decoration, hinting towards the cleaning job he’s about to embark on.

One follower replied, “Those gloves are INCREDIBLE!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ™Œ”

Sir Elton Got His Hands Dirty for the Next Video

Sir Elton John’s next video, which is 16 seconds long and captioned “Donโ€™t think your comments go unnoticedโ€ฆ ๐Ÿงผ,” has the previously mentioned criticism at the top of the screen for reference.

In the video, the star is standing by his oven wearing the aforementioned pink rubber gloves, with some oven spray and a cloth in his hand.

He says “Look at this,” then begins jovially wiping the appliance down himself (while “Step into Christmas” plays). He then says “I’ve got the cleanest oven window in Windsor!” The video ends with Sir Elton looking exasperated at hearing “Step into Christmas” again.

It was a fantastic way to react to the criticism he received and his fans seemed to love it in the comments section.

One wrote, “Cleaning the oven in a Gucci tracksuit is incredible ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘.”

Another said, “Omg youโ€™re adorable! New follower here (though have loved you as long as Iโ€™ve been alive ๐Ÿ˜Š).”

Someone else commented, “Darling has that oven ever been used? Itโ€™s spotless! Iโ€™m happy to come and cook for you and make it dirty, as it should be ๐Ÿคฃ.”

Meanwhile, Sir Elton’s friend, actress and model Elizabeth Hurley, 60, chimed in saying, “Hysterical โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ.”

We hope Sir Elton John and his loved ones have the merriest of Christmases โ€” and that he doesn’t have to hear his classic song too many more times over the festive period.
