In an interview with PEOPLE, Fieri said, “I’m doing better. It was definitely a trying holiday, but you know what, you get some real appreciation for having the ability to just get up and walk around and do everything you used to.”
He added, “I’m a big CrossFit and hiking guy, so eight weeks of no hiking has driven me kind of crazy. But I’m looking forward to it, trying to take it easy.”
The On-Set Incident
The accident took place while the “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” host was working on another show in November 2025. Fieri was rushed into emergency surgery after an accident on the set of his new show, “Flavortown Food Fight.”
At the time, Fieri told Fox News Digital, “I slipped down a set of steps and one foot went forward, and the other foot got caught on the threshold. So, you know, it extended me out. I looked like I was probably doing the splits, but when my right leg compressed into itself, the giveaway point … and the doctor said he’s never seen — you know, in 20 years — he hasn’t seen a tear in the biggest, thickest part of your quad in half. Yeah, it sucked.”
His injury happened to be “right in the center” of the muscle, so it “exploded.” After being admitted to the hospital, he was immediately taken into surgery to make sure his muscle didn’t “recede.”
‘Worst Thing I’ve Been Through In the Last 20 Years’
Fieri was told he couldn’t walk on his leg for eight weeks. Now, two months later, he said he’s ready to get up and get back on his feet. However, doctors have wanted him to take it easy so he doesn’t regress.
He told PEOPLE, “My doctors are all like, ‘We know you want to get after it, but let’s not go back to where we were.’ And I’m like, ‘We are never going back to that!’ That was the worst thing I’ve been through in the last 20 years.”
Fieri said he will be “up and ready and healthy and rolling” for Super Bowl LX. The big NFL game takes place on February 8. He will be in Santa Clara for the big game, assisting with the Flavortown Tailgate.
Fieri will be joined by his two sons, Hunter, 29, and Ryder, 20, along with his nephew Jules, 26, for the Super Bowl tailgate. The trio got a jump start with their cooking when they had to take over Thanksgiving duties for Fieri because of this injury.
