Season 19 Begins
The teams are in Nashville, Tennessee, and Tyler greets them. It’s Music City. This season, the bottom sales team will not be eliminated. The bottom two teams will go head-to-head in a redemption challenge that is all about taste!
Time for the First Challenge
For this first challenge, the teams will have 45 minutes to create a dish that represents their favorite genre of music, since it’s Music City. Since this is savory versus sweet, once the dishes are done, Tyler will not taste each dish. Instead, the four savory teams and four sweet teams will taste each other’s dishes. They will have to decide which dish is the best among them.
From there, Tyler will taste the best Savory dish and the best Sweet dish. Whichever dish Tyler picks as the best will win an advantage for each of the four teams on that side (sweet or savory).
Cooking Time
For Grounds Donut House, they have come up with their idea. However, the truck is too hot, so the donuts didn’t proof. They aren’t able to cook them, so they will fry them. However, the fryer is not on, so the oil isn’t hot.
For Big & Bear’s Cannoli, they are making the shells, but struggling. They are too thick, so needing to fix them and get the shells down soon. Waffadilla is a food truck specializing in turning a waffle into a quesadilla. They are using too much power, so they blew circuits and the generator went out. This turns off the Insta-Pot, so the chicken isn’t cooking properly. They have now blown the generator three times, so they need to figure something out! They turned off some breakers and are trying to get their dish cooked.
Deadproof Pizza Co. is using a truck they’ve never used before. They are trying to get used to the ovens for their pizzas, but their oil is too heavy and is weighing things down. They are burning the pizzas.
Grounds Donut House is still struggling with the overproofed donuts. They are now trying to use a wafflemaker to make the donuts. Bug & Bear’s Cannoli are struggling with their filling now, which takes hours to make. It’s too liquid, and no real fix in the time they have left. The time is up, as the teams get their dishes together.
Music Challenge Results
We start with the teams tasting each other’s dishes on “The Great Food Truck Race” Season 19. By trying these other trucks’ food, it just gives them a chance to truly check out their competition. After tasting all of the dishes, the teams are struggling to decide who to put in front of Tyler. For the Savory teams, they vote Waffadilla as the best dish. For the Sweet teams, they were unanimous in choosing Bug & Bear’s Cannoli.
Time for Tyler to taste the dishes:
- Waffadilla – Tyler said yum. He thinks waffadillas are here to stay. There might be one or two things going on that might be too much, but a good dish.
- Bug & Bear’s Cannoli – The texture of the shell is nice. The flavor of the filling is nice, but it could be thicker.
Results: Tyler said both dishes were incredible, but the winner is Bug & Bear’s Cannoli! For winning, all four of the Sweet teams will get an extra 30 minutes of selling time after the Savory teams wrap things up for the day.
Selling Day on ‘The Great Food Truck Race’
The teams will be setting up shop right on Broadway for a day of selling. This has never been done before, but the city is allowing them to sell at this tourist location. For Grounds Donut House, Mom is driving the truck and bad with directions. They are missing directions, end up getting to the location last, and they hate their parking spot.
All of the teams are on Broadway and are working on getting their menus and food ready. They haven’t even gotten started, but Tyler is calling! He said he has a Taste Challenge for them! He has hidden four Nashville ingredients at different venues on Broadway. Their hype person has to go and find the ingredients. Once they find an ingredient, they have to bring it back and make a Nashville Special of the Day dish. Tyler will go around and taste all of these dishes, and the best dish will get $300 in their till.
When going around to the venues, they find the ingredients are bologna, Nashville hot spice, pickles, and biscuit dough. The teams go to different venues to find the better ingredient. Moe is struggling to find any of the ingredients for Cason Funnel Cakes, so he just picks bologna. Grounds Donut Co. got the Nashville hot spice, and they are excited.
Back to Business
The team members are back, so time to work on sales. Deadproof Pizza Co. is parked in front of a restaurant that has a worker in front of the business handing out free samples of pizza! This is killing them. Then, Hele Rolls finally gets their truck opened, but no one is ordering anything.
The teams are all struggling to get some sales. Most people are ignoring the trucks. Meanwhile, Tyler has started going around to taste the Nashville Special of the Day dishes.
Moe is out there working the crowd for Cason Funnel Cakes, and they seem to be liking him. Sherman is also working well, keeping a line coming for Stuph’d Beignets & Burgers.
Taste Challenge Results: After tasting all of the dishes, the winner of the Taste Challenge is Stuph’d! They get $300 for their till.
The teams then get a text from Tyler. He tells them all who won. It’s also the end of the day for the Savory teams, so they have to close up shop. Meanwhile, the Sweet teams get 30 more minutes of possible sales.
Grounds Donut House is giving out free samples in hopes of driving people to their truck. Bug & Bear’s and Cason Funnel Cakes have lines still going strong. The night ends as Grounds Donut House has a lot of wasted food.

Taste Redemption Challenge
That means Deadproof Pizza Co. and Grounds Donut House will now be going head-to-head in a Taste Redemption Challenge. It’s one more chance to prove their food is good enough to remain in the competition.
Tyler is then joined by Maneet Chauhan, who will help judge this challenge. For the challenge, the teams will have to create a dish using an ingredient Maneet chose for them: garam masala.
For Grounds Donut House, they are working the garam masala into the batter for their mini pancakes. Deadproof is making a Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza. They joke that they all live in their parents’ house, so they need this $50,000. After talking with Maneet, Grounds decides to add more spice to their dish to be bolder.
When Maneet gets back to Tyler, she says one truck seems to be underusing the spice and the other truck is overusing it. The time runs out, and time to taste these dishes!
- Deadproof Pizza Co. – Maneet said there is something absolutely luscious about this. There is no relief from the garam masala. Tyler said they did well coming up with this. Inconsistencies in the cut of the chicken.
- Grounds Donut House – Tyler said they’re really soft. Flavor is great, but could have been cooked longer. Maneet said she would be happy getting this from a food truck. There is a freshness from the strawberry. They could have been bolder with the garam masala.
Results: Tyler and Maneet discuss the dishes. The winner of this challenge is Deadproof Pizza Co., which means Grounds Donut House has been eliminated tonight!
What do you think of the results on “The Great Food Truck Race” Season 19 tonight? For next week, the teams will be making their way to Franklin, Tennessee.
