Get Ready to ‘Rock the Block’ Episode Two!

HGTV’s most popular competition show, “Rock the Block” is back! And if you missed the season six premiere April 14, we’ve got you covered.

HGTV says season six is going BIGโ€“ with bigger houses, bigger challenges and a few new twists.

This season, the “block” is a neighborhood outside Salt Lake City, Utah, where four teams are renovating identical properties that boast mountain views, soaring interior spaces and the largest backyards in series history.

And theyโ€™ve each been given $250,000 to do it.

But while the framework of the competition is largely the same, HGTV has made some game-changing renovations of its own to the show.

Here’s what you need to know to get ready for episode two of season six, which airs Monday, April 21 at 9:00p.m. ET.

Veteran RTBers are Taking on Newbies

For the first time ever, season six is pitting two teams who have been around the block a time or two against rookies who are the new kids on the block.

I said new kids on the block.

But actually, the “New Kids on the Block” ARE the veterans.

Let me explain. Here are the teams.

The Veterans:

Team One: Jonathan Knightย (Farmhouse Fixer) and hisย New Kids on the Blockย bandmate and brotherย Jordan Knightย make up team one for the veterans. Even though Jordan is technically new to the block, he did help his brother in hisย Camp Revampย property flip and earns vet status by default.

Team Two:ย Alison Victoriaย (Windy City Rehab) teams up withย Season 4 championย and high-end designerย Michel Smith Boydย (Luxe For Less). If itโ€™s true that the โ€œthird time is the charm,โ€ thenย Alison Victoriaย is a shoe-in. While she competed in the first two seasons of โ€œRTB,โ€ she hasn’t secured the street sign with her name on it YET.

The Rookies:

Team Three: Married home reno prosย Chelseaย andย Cole DeBoerย (Down Home Fab) do NOT like being called rookies and boast that their edgy vibe will ultimately win the day.

Team Four: House-flipping expertsย Kamohaiย andย Tristyn Kalamaย (Renovation Aloha) say adding value to homes is what they DO, whether it’s in a tropical setting or surrounded by mountains.

Two Twists That Could Be Game Changers in Season Six

In addition to the “veterans vs rookies” twist, there are two other big changes in season six.

For one, each episodeโ€™s judges will tour the finished spacesย withoutย the competitors present. The judges will only find out whose house they saw after theyโ€™ve given their assessments.

The other shift- a “Rock the Block Scoreboard” that aligns the two veteran teams and the two rookie teams. Which means, when one of the veteran teams or one of the rookie teams wins that week’s challenge, not only will that team get a $3,000 bonus to use for the next challenge. The other half of the vets or the rookies will also score a $1,500 bonus.

What Happened In Episode One of ‘Rock the Block’

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers for โ€œRock the Blockโ€ season 6 episode 1, (April 14, 2025). Do not read ahead if you do not want to know who won episode one.

Episode one saw the teams renovating not one but three spaces in their homes. The kitchen, dining room and living room were all on the table.

Alison Victoria and Michel Smith Boyd went big with their budget, allocating $110,000 of their $250,000 for challenge one (and then going over budget when a countertop crisis occurred.)

Kamohaiย andย Tristyn Kalama budgeted $100,000 for their three-space reno.

But the other two teams were more conservative, with both the Knight brothers and Chelseaย andย Cole DeBoer allocating just $65,000 each to get all three spaces done.

In the end, going big paid off big time for Alison and Michel, who won the episode with their dramatic green kitchen.

Guest judge, “Queer Eye’s” Bobby Berk loves the color choice and touches like a brass sink and ten-burner stove.

Alison and Michel will start episode two with an extra $3,000. And fellow veterans Jonathan and Jordan Knight will have an extra $1,500 to put toward the second challenge as well.

What to Expect for Episode Two of ‘Rock the Block’

Episode two on April 21 will see the teams race to finish the rest of their first-floor spaces.

HGTV stars Jasmine Roth and Mina Starsiak-Hawk are episode twoโ€™s guest judges.

It airs at 9:00p.m. ET andย will be available to stream the next day on Max and Discovery+.
