Beloved MTV Star Shares Heartbreaking Post After His 3-Year-Old Daughter Was Airlifted To Hospital: ‘My Worst Nightmare’

Cory Wharton took to Instagram on Monday, April 13, sharing a heartbreaking photo of him kissing his daughter, who is in the hospital.

The MTV star revealed that he was “halfway across the globe,’ when he received a call that his “daughter is getting Air Vac to Cooks Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.” Wharton said that it’s “any parent’s worst nightmare.”

“Watching my daughter fight through this has been the hardest thing I’ve ever faced,” he wrote. “These days tested everything in me. Fear, pain, uncertainty… all of it. But through it all, Maya never stopped being strong. She reminded me what courage really looks like. I’ll carry this forever. I’ve never been more proud to be her dad.

“This is just the beginning of our 18 day journey in this hospital,” he continued. “he helplessness…… as a father watching your daughter, just sit there in the hospital bed & calling your name out & there’s nothing you can do. You’re putting all your trust in nurses & doctors that you just met is a scary situation for any father or parent out there. For Maya, this isn’t her first time in the hospital. She’s already faced two open-heart surgeries, and now we’re here again—this time fighting for two of her most vital organs, her lungs 🫁 and her heart 🫀. I’ll be going in to more detail soon.”

In the post, Wharton also thanked Taylor Selfridge for being “an amazing mother and woman, a role model for my girls.”

“The way that she handled herself & handled the situation when I wasn’t there, I give her all the credit in the world,” he added. “Also, I want to say thank you to all the nurses and doctors at Cook’s Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.”

“It’s a ALOT to unpack here. I’m just happy that we got released from the hospital and got back to California safely,” Wharton concluded. “Again my message for years has been this, HEALTH IS WEALTH & as long as you’re healthy you’re the richest man or woman in the world!”
