Multiple gloves were found in areas around Nancy Guthrie’s house since the 84-year-old’s disappearance two weeks ago; however, it appears that the DNA profile of one differs from the others.
An FBI spokesperson told Fox News that “a glove with a DNA profile recovered in the Nancy Guthrie case is different from other gloves that have been found and appears to match the gloves of the subject seen in the surveillance video.”
According to the outlet, authorities found approximately 16 gloves during their search. Still, the spokesperson said, “most of them were searchers’ gloves that they discarded in various areas when they searched the vicinity.”
“The one with the DNA profile recovered is different and appears to match the gloves of the subject in the surveillance video,” the spokesperson added.
FBI Released Description of Suspect in Nancy Guthrie Case
Based on the video released by the FBI, they also described the masked man, saying that he is 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with an average build. In the video, he is wearing dark clothing, black gloves, sneakers, and a backpack.
Arizona Sheriff Chris Nanos Provided New Details on the Investigation
When speaking with The New York Times on Friday, Arizona sheriff Chris Nanos spoke about the investigation into Nancy’s disappearance. Specifically, he talked about how authorities have been going through more than 32,000 leads that have come in.
“It’s exhausting, these ups and downs,” Nanos said. “But we will keep moving forward.”
He also provided a somewhat vague timeline for when this case might close.
“Maybe it’s an hour from now,” he said. “Maybe it’s weeks or months or years from now. But we won’t quit. We’re going to find Nancy. We’re going to find this guy.”
Major Operation Ended With No Arrests
An overnight operation was conducted just two miles from Nancy Guthrie’s home, with there being a report that three people were detained.
However, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told Fox News’ Matt Finn that no one was arrested and no one remains in custody following the operation.
According to CNN, the police questioned one man, but ultimately let him go, “believing him not to be the kidnapper.” They added that “the man was cooperative.”
CNN Chief Law Enforcement and Intelligence Analyst John Miller also detailed that it’s possible to “see a couple more of these as this goes on” due to the nature of the investigation, as Nancy has been missing for two weeks now with no updates about whether she is alive.
