Investigators Looking Into New Clue About Nancy Guthrie’s Kidnapper Based On Security Footage

Investigators may have discovered a new clue in the security footage obtained from Nancy Guthrie’s porch as the search for her hits the third week.

Specifically, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told NBC News on Tuesday, February 17, that in the video, the suspect appears to be wearing a ring underneath the pair of black gloves.

“I look at the same photo you look at and I get — I see it,” Nanos said. “I’m going to give that to my team. They’ll look at that. They’ll analyze it and we’ll see. Maybe, maybe it is.”

Along with the ring, authorities are also looking to the gun holder that the suspect appeared to have on his belt.

“We know he had a gun. We know he had a holster that had some pretty unique characteristics,” Nanos continued. “We can’t quite identify it yet, but that’s being worked on. So naturally, we go to our gun shops everywhere and say: ‘Have you seen this guy? Can you help us identify this weapon? Can you help us identify this holster?’”

Results From DNA Sample In Nancy Guthrie Investigation Revealed

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department provided an update regarding the DNA evidence that was discovered inside a glove found approximately 2 miles from Nancy’s home.

“DNA evidence from gloves found approximately 2 miles from Nancy Guthrie’s residence was submitted to CODIS & produced no matches,” the new post on social media said. “There is additional DNA evidence that was found at the residence that is also being analyzed.”

So, with no matches in CODIS, it means that investigators are going to pursue another path.

“Now we start with genealogy and some of the partial DNA we have at the home,” Nanos said in an interview today (per NBC News). “To me, that’s more critical than any glove I found 2 miles away. I’m not dismissing the glove 2 miles away, but I have gloves 5 miles away, 10 miles away, so we prioritize.”

“We believe that we may have some DNA there that may be our suspect, but we won’t know that until that DNA is separated, sorted out, maybe admitted to CODIS, maybe through genealogy,” Nanos added.

FBI In Touch With Mexican Law Enforcement

Investigators have reached out to law enforcement agencies in Mexico, police sources tell TMZ, adding that they have been alerted regarding Nancy’s disappearance. While there’s no proof that Nancy has been taken across the boarder, investigators are looking into the possibility.

They have been keeping an eye on Border Patrol camera footage and other surveillance systems.

FOX News Digital’s Michael Ruiz also provided an update, tweeting, “NEW: A federal law enforcement source confirms the FBI has contacted Mexican authorities in connection with the Nancy Guthrie case. However, this comes shortly after the sheriff said the investigation hasn’t developed any firm evidence that she’s been taken across the border.”
