Sinbad Bravely Returns to Stage for 1st Stand-Up Comedy Show Since His 2020 Stroke

Sinbad is officially stepping back into the spotlightโ€”marking a powerful milestone more than five years after suffering a stroke.

The 69-year-old comedian shared the update in a video posted to Instagram on Wednesday, April 29, revealing that heโ€™s ready to return to stand-up, even as he continues his recovery journey.

Sinbadโ€™s Heartwarming Statement

โ€œI canโ€™t walk. Since the stroke in 2020, I have not been on stage. Iโ€™m gonna get my feet wet April 29 and May 10 at the Comedy Ice House in Pasadena, California. Itโ€™s just the beginning of me coming back,โ€ he said. โ€œIโ€™m so looking forward to these shows. I got so much stuff to talk about. Iโ€™m gonna be talking more trash than I ever talked.โ€

The performances will take place at the iconic Ice House Comedy Club, signaling a meaningful first step back into live comedy for the beloved entertainer.

In a touching twist, Sinbad also revealed that his daughter, Paige, will be opening for himโ€”marking the first time the two will perform together professionally.

โ€œIโ€™m looking forward to this because she talks more trash than I talk,โ€ he joked.

He didnโ€™t forget to acknowledge the support thatโ€™s helped him reach this point.

โ€œI thank you for all the prayers that people prayed for me,โ€ he said. โ€œIt worked.โ€

Alongside the video, Sinbad reflected on the emotional significance of the moment, writing, โ€œSome moments you donโ€™t rush. You just wait until theyโ€™re ready. Tonight is one of those moments. Iโ€™m coming back to the stage โ€” and Iโ€™m bringing family with me.โ€

Fans React to the Exciting News

Fans and fellow celebrities quickly flooded the comments with support and excitement. Raven-Symonรฉ wrote, โ€œSO READY!โ€ while Steve Harvey added, โ€œA LIVING LEGEND โ€ฆ.. PERIOD.โ€

Others shared heartfelt messages, celebrating his resilience and long-awaited return. โ€œHeeery Sinbad. Welcome back! Have fun. Sending you lots of love & a big hug,โ€ one fan wrote, while another added, โ€œWow Iโ€™ve been thinking about you bro and praying for you โ€ฆ what a long haul youโ€™ve been through.โ€

Paige also took to social media to reflect on the milestone, sharing just how meaningful the moment is for their family.

โ€œTonight, Iโ€™m opening for the man, the myth, the legend himself. My daddy makes his return back to the stage at the legendary Ice House,โ€ she wrote on her Instagram Stories. โ€œThis is bigger than I can fully comprehend.โ€

She added, โ€œSince starting comedy, my dad has only been able to watch me perform twice. Mainly due to the fact that MOST clubs are not ADA accessible so he literally canโ€™t get in there. Itโ€™s been heartbreaking to be on this journey without my biggest cheerleader so when I say tonight is special โ€” itโ€™s a moment I will NEVER forget and ALWAYS cherish.โ€

Sinbad Suffered a Stroke in 2020

Sinbadโ€™s return comes after a long and difficult recovery following his October 2020 stroke.

In 2022, his family shared that the medical emergency was caused by a blood clot traveling from his heart to his brain.

Despite the challenges, Sinbad has remained determined to return to the work he loves.

Before stepping back into stand-up, he made his acting comeback in โ€œStraw,โ€signaling that he was gradually finding his way back into the industry.

Now, with his first live shows on the horizon, Sinbadโ€™s comeback is not just about comedyโ€”itโ€™s about perseverance, gratitude, and the power of community support.
