“Big Brother” fans were stunned to see a familiar face resurface after two decades out of the spotlight. Former “Big Brother” 6 winner Maggie Ausburn made a rare public appearance in a newly shared photo, giving viewers a surprising glimpse of the once-controversial champion who has pretty much stayed away from reality TV and the spotlight since her 2005 win.
Rare Public Appearance for ‘Big Brother’ Champion
Ausburn’s “BB6” co-star April Lewis shared a recent photo of the duo on her Instagram account.
Lewis captioned the photo, “It’s been wayyy too long! Love you Maggie!”
This is a very rare sighting for Ausburn. She was crowned the winner of “Big Brother” 6 in 2005. Since then, no one has really seen or heard from her, which is especially odd for a winner of any reality TV show. Not much is known about her, but Us Weekly reported that she is an elementary school principal living in Las Vegas, Nevada, with her husband and three children.
She made it 20 years out of the spotlight, but now one of her fellow houseguests brings her back into the limelight.
Fans Delighted to See a Familiar Face
It didn’t take long for “Big Brother” fans to hop into the comment section and share their delight at seeing Ausburn.
One fan wrote, “Maggie had one of the most dominant games EVER, and still holds to this day. She definitely is one of the best to ever win,” while another added, “One of my favorite winners. Woooow.”
The love continued, as this user wrote, “maggie is one of my favorite BB players ever. the friendship alliance was goated!!!”
Maggie’s win was controversial at the time, but it seems like fans thought she was deserving. This person wrote, “Best winner and best alliance any way you slice it😜❤️ you guys look great! Much love.”
This user was shocked to see Maggie after so long, writing, “Omg its crazy to see maggie in 2025. I never thought it would happen.”
While another fan added, “April!!! Thank you for sharing this. You’ve done something major for the fanbase/community! A wonderful belated Christmas present shall we say 😆. Happy to see Maggie and hope she is doing well. Please let her know that she is an absolute legend 💜.”
Ausburn’s Road to Victory
Maggie entered the “Big Brother” 6 house in 2005. That season had a unique “secret partners” twist, which she competed alongside her real-life friend Eric “Cappy” Littman. Early on, she aligned herself with Cappy and other houseguests to form “The Friendship” alliance.
Cappy was evicted early, finishing in 12th place, so then Maggie had to step into a leadership role. She kept the group together, often leading their strategy through some pretty intense moments.
It ended up being a battle between The Friendship and fan-favorite Sovereign Six, which included players Janelle Pierzina and Kaysar Ridha. Maggie, like in real life, avoided the spotlight while on the show. She had a behind-the-scenes influence, which helped lead her to the finale night.
In the final vote, Ausburn defeated Ivette Corredero in a 4-3 jury vote. She claimed her spot as one of the show’s most debated and memorable winners.
